This collaboration has not only been professionally rewarding but also personally fulfilling, as we witness the incredible impact SAID has on the community.
About The Society for Animals in Distress
The Society for Animals in Distress (SAID) is dedicated to providing professional veterinary care founded on animal care education within marginalized communities. Their tri-pillar approach focuses on education, professional veterinary care, and service eligibility. Education is key, with efforts to inform and equip communities about animal care, supported by their state-of-the-art facility in Midrand, which includes a hospital, kennels, and an equine care centre. SAID’s services are accessible to low-income individuals, ensuring continuity of care through referral letters from private veterinarians. This comprehensive approach ensures SAID makes a meaningful and sustainable impact on the lives of animals and their owners.
A Serendipitous Beginning
Our journey with SAID began serendipitously. A dedicated team member from SAID, who had previously experienced the value of Ornico’s services at another organization, knew exactly who to reach out to when she joined SAID. She saw how our collaboration could help SAID make their brand known and their mission understood. As she recalled, “I learnt about Ornico when working at a different company (NPO). When I started at SAID, I just knew I would have to reach out to Ornico and bring them on board with us.”
Memorable Moments and Shared Success
One aspect of our partnership is the support we provide to SAID. As an NPO, accessing high-quality analytics and media monitoring can often be beyond their financial reach. We’ve been able to provide these tools to SAID, helping them obtain vital information for their fundraising and marketing efforts. “As an NPO, we would never have been able to afford these ‘luxury’ services despite how important they are for the business to run and see our reach. With the information and stats we receive from Ornico on a pro bono basis, we are able to gain access to this vital information for our fundraising and marketing efforts.”
Growing Together Through Insight
Through our detailed analytics, SAID has been able to grow and adapt. The insights provided by Ornico help them measure their progress and identify areas for improvement. This data-driven approach has not only helped them overcome challenges but has also fuelled their continuous growth and success in their mission. “The analytics we are able to obtain help us to grow in the sense that we can measure how much better (or worse) we are doing and then adapt and improve,” said SAID.

Over the years, SAID has watched Ornico evolve. The introduction of our Pythia platform, for instance, marked a significant milestone in our journey together. This innovation showcases our commitment to continuously improving our services to meet the needs of our clients, reinforcing the strength of our partnership. SAID acknowledged, “The introduction of Pythia was exceptional.”
